POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Coordinator plays a crucial role in the planning, design, and implementation of the Program and all its affiliated projects. They are responsible for building and overseeing the funding development initiatives of the Program which include networking with diverse groups, project management, and identifying, applying for, and obtaining programmatic funding to achieve and maintain the Program’s mission. The Senior Coordinator of Development is responsible for supporting the Program’s mission by ensuring long term sustainability of the Program by maximizing immediate and long-term grant and philanthropic support.

The primary function of this position will be to bring in funds to make the UWF Conservation Program sustainable over time. This position will analyze and solve the funding gap for the UWF Conservation Program and will analyze the best implementation methods for Conservation programming and fundraising and implement projects with those methods.

In accordance with UWF Human Resources Policy HR-20.03-02/25, Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment, a time-limited appointment is a position funded by contract and grant, auxiliary, or local fund, for a project for a specific period. A time-limited position shall have the same rights as a regular position except that the position is not entitled to notice of separation at the expiration of the appointment and shall not have layoff and recall rights.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization with one year of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization with three years of relevant experience.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree with 5–7 years of experience in conservation, natural resource
management, or nonprofit program development. Demonstrated experience with successful grant writing and project fundraising. Strong organizational and project management skills.

The ideal candidate will:

Have the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
Excellent project management skills, including experience managing budgets and timelines.
Ability to identify and evaluate funding solicitation notices to decipher applicability to the UWF Conservation Program's mission.
Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, provide attention to detail (e.g., proofreading, editing, compliance, budgets, etc.).
Excellent speaking and writing skills.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs and social media platforms.
Experience in grant writing, fundraising, development, or donor relations.
Ability to drive with their own vehicle occasionally to off campus meetings and events.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The preferred candidate will have all position qualifications along with a: Master’s degree with over 2 years of experience in program development. Proven track record of securing grants, fundraising for initiatives and building sustainable programs. Leadership experience in public, private, or nonprofit sectors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
  • 60% - Grant writing • Works with the Office of Research Administration & Engagement to apply for federal, state and private grants to support the Program. • Performs administrative duties required to submit and manage grants, e.g. purchasing, budgets, developing matrices to ensure adherence with grant evaluation criteria, submitting required grant progress reports. • Collaborates with faculty, administrators, and staff to conceptualize and design grant-funded projects that advance the Program priorities and align with funder requirements. • Identifies and documents faculty research/scholarship specialties which align with the Program goals and interests through periodic outreach initiatives and reports. • Researches and identifies new funding opportunities to support the Program. • Interprets RFPs and Funding Opportunity Announcements and provides clear guidance to project teams. • Develops and maintains reusable content, toolkits, and templates to improve efficiency and quality in grant submissions. • Creates quarterly reports for all grant activity. • Keep the Director of Conservation informed on faculty engagement, funding trends, emerging research opportunities, grant writing progress, etc. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Fundraising • Connects with the greater UWF community to cultivate philanthropic relationships and donor support. • Works with the UWF Development team to create and manage fundraising campaigns. • Develops revenue-generating workshops and community activities which help to financially support the Program. • Coordinates all fundraising events and activities - (Essential)
  • 20% - Other administrative duties • Supports the preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing materials for strategic communication. • Create quarterly reports on Program activities. • Collaborate with the SGA Director of Sustainability and Conservation to plan and implement Argos Conservation Corps. • Develops outreach and educational material to enhance awareness of the Program and its projects. • Conducts research and analysis to identify new program opportunities and areas for improvement. • Develops and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including external partners, to promote the Program success. • Ensures maintenance of pages on The Program’s website and creates and manages a UWF Conservation Program social media presence. • Occasionally other duties as needed. - (Essential)
