POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Coordinator will be a part of the Case Management team within the Dean of Students Office, having direct oversight of student support and case management responsibilities. Duties include: triaging student concerns, helping students problem solve, connecting students to resources on and off-campus, providing basic needs support, responding quickly and appropriately to challenges and/or crises, and providing follow up as necessary. Through formal and informal interactions, the incumbent will meet with students on a daily basis to address interpersonal, behavioral, academic, and wellbeing concerns. Serves in the Dean of Students Office on-call rotation and will be expected to respond appropriately to student incidents and crises; coordinate emergency protocols and provide crisis management support. They must also collaborate with and refer students to University offices/organizations to provide broad-based student support while implementing appropriate administrative processes as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization with one year of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization with three years of relevant experience.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of crisis management techniques. Knowledge of case management practices, record-keeping, and attention to detail are expected, along with organizational and time management skills and the ability to work well with faculty, staff, students, parents, and other applicable stakeholders. Experience developing and assessing student learning and program outcomes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in social work, counseling, student affairs administration, or other appropriate degree, and at least 1 year of experience working in a university setting. Strong experience working with students in distress, particularly with mental health issues; conflict resolution, interpersonal communication skills, and disruptive student behavior. Knowledge of principles and practice with case management, crisis management, basic needs, program development, and event planning;
Working knowledge of Maxient.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
  • 55% - Responsible for providing non-clinical case management support to students navigating a range of personal, academic, financial, and medical concerns. Provides ongoing assessments to evaluate situations, identify barriers, and develop appropriate action plans. Facilitates referrals to campus and community resources, ensuring students are connected to appropriate resources in a timely and effective manner. Collaborates with campus partners, faculty, staff, and family members to support coordinated care and improve student success. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Conducts ongoing follow-up with students to monitor progress, reassess needs, and ensure effective connection to recommend resources and services. In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Students, will assist in developing, updating, and assessing student and program-related outcomes for reporting purposes. This position will also support the planning, coordination, and delivery of training for various campus departments to facilitate the dissemination of information regarding the services offered by the Dean of Students Office. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Collaborates with Persistence and Academic Success Services, STEM Scholars, and Housing and Residence Life to address student concerns, provide coordinated support, and assist in the development of strategies to support student wellbeing and retention. Serves as the University's Foster Care Youth Liaison. Assists the Dean of Students Office with on and off-campus events, including but not limited to new student orientation, Argo Arrival, House Calls, Homecoming, risk management events, and Family weekend. Represents the University at community and/or state functions; participates in appropriate professional associations; serves as a member of divisional, University, and state-level committees and task forces. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Participates in an on-call rotation to address after-hours student concerns, including hospital transports, consultations, and coordination with campus and community partners to ensure student safety and well-being. - (Essential)
