          POSITION OVERVIEW

          JOB SUMMARY:

          The Senior Coordinator of Residential Student Wellbeing will be a part of the Dean of Students Office, having direct oversight of student support and case management responsibilities for students living in on-campus housing. Duties include: triaging student concerns, helping students problem solve, connecting students to resources on and off-campus, providing basic needs support, responding quickly and appropriately to challenges and/or crises, and providing follow up as necessary. Through formal and informal interactions, the incumbent will meet with students on a daily basis to address interpersonal, behavioral, academic, and wellbeing concerns. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for students, parents/families, faculty and staff regarding residential students of concern. Serves in the Dean of Students Office on-call rotation and will be expected to respond appropriately to student incidents and crises; coordinate emergency protocols and provide crisis management support. They must also collaborate with and make referrals to University offices/organizations to provide broad-based student support while implementing appropriate administrative processes, as needed.

          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

          Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization with one year of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization with three years of relevant experience.

          POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

          Knowledge of student development theory, knowledge of residence life programs and crisis management techniques. Knowledge of case management practices; record keeping, and attention to detail are expected; organizational and time management skills; and ability to work well with faculty, staff, students, parents, and other applicable stakeholders. Experience developing and assessing student learning and program outcomes.

          PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

          Master's degree in social work, counseling, student affairs administration, or other appropriate degree and at least 1 year experience working in a university setting with experience in residential life. Strong experience working with students in distress, particularly with mental health issues; conflict resolution, interpersonal communication skills and disruptive student behavior. Knowledge of principles and practice with case management, crisis management, basic needs, program development; and event planning; working knowledge of Maxient.

          ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
          • 60% - Develops and directs the day to day care services support for residential students. Meets daily with students to discuss wellbeing concerns such as personal and academic concerns, mental and physical health concerns and social and interpersonal relationship concerns. Serves as the primary liaison between the Dean of Students Office and Housing and Residence Life. Makes policy recommendations and develops and implements operating procedures that support residential student wellbeing. The position makes referrals to resources on and off campus, engages in coaching on wellbeing topics, and provides options for resolving ongoing issues and concerns. Serves as a primary point of contact for receipt of/and response to reports of students of concern and serves as the primary conduit for information to the CARE team concerning residential students in need of behavioral intervention and support from other resources. Maintains the residential student case management process, including tracking cases and coordinating follow-up with students, faculty and staff. Provides wrap-around support services for residential students in distress/crisis. - (Essential)
          • 10% - Collaborates with campus partners to develop, coordinate, and evaluate campus initiatives and programs related to residential student wellbeing. Creates and maintains positive relationships with internal and external partners; Assesses and reports on wellbeing trends among residential students and develops new educational programs and interventions to address concerning student behaviors. Develops and conducts presentations, training and outreach education to Housing and Residence Life Staff on topics related to student wellbeing including recognizing and responding to students in distress, conflict resolution and Campus Security Authority Training. - (Essential)
          • 10% - Assist staff with urgent student case needs; Provide leadership to staff and students during crises in the residence hall and in the greater campus community; Participate in a rotating weekly on-call system providing emergency assistance to staff and residents; Assists in the management of the residential student hurricane shelter; supports the residential community and the greater campus in the event of a campus-wide emergency or crisis. Serve as an ad-hoc member of the Campus Care Team. - (Essential)

          • 5% - Assists the Dean of Students Office and Housing and Residence Life teams with on and off-campus events including but not limited to new student orientation, Argo Arrival, House Calls, Homecoming, and Family weekend. Represents the University at community and/or state functions; participates in appropriate professional associations; promotes community partnership development as appropriate for the mission of the DOS and Housing and Residence Life; serves as a member of divisional, University, and state level committees and task forces. Supports assessment activities for the Division related to residential student wellbeing. Produces monthly and annual reports for the Dean of Students and Director of Housing and Residence Life on areas related to residential student wellbeing. - (Essential)
