POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

This position meets with students and external clients to discuss additive manufacturing solutions. The person that fills this position must possess knowledge of 3D modeling and prototyping, as well as appropriate knowledge of 3D printer slicer software. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; ability to think creatively are also essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Positions in this category require specialized knowledge or skills which may be acquired through experience and/or technical training. Independent action is required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification in one of the following: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion360
Knowledge of 3D modeling and prototyping
Knowledge of 3D printer slicer software (Cura, Bambu, Eiger, Makerbot, Simplify 3D, Apex)
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; ability to think creatively
Exceptional time-management and problem-solving skills to fulfill 3D printing needs for clients
Familiar with multiple types of 3D printers (FDM, SLA, CFR, Metal X)
Familiar with 3D scanning technology (ArtecEva, Next Engine)
Basic knowledge of electronics, including the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, and microcontrollers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
  • 50% - Meeting with students and clients to discuss additive manufacturing ideas/concepts and applying them to projects. Utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; ability to think creatively when working with clients. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Using knowledge of 3D modeling and prototyping to bring ideas to life. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining printers and other lab equipment. Keeping lab and materials/supplies organized. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Physical Requirements: Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely results would be cuts, bruises, etc.
  • Impact of Deadlines: Externally imposed deadlines set and revised beyond one’s control. Interruptions influence priorities. Difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days.
