POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

Noncredit courses are short-term classes offered through the Division of Continuing Education. They are intended for students who want to gain general knowledge, learn a new skill, upgrade existing skills or develop personal interests. Instructors are part time and contracted per course to teach noncredit students on various personal enrichment or technical education classes.

Instructors are responsible for developing curriculum, delivering learning content, maintaining accurate attendance records, using teaching and learning strategies to optimize student performance and engagement, and complying with department and University policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s or higher degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s or higher degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent communication skills including fluency in ASL as well as verbal and written fluency in English. The ideal candidate will be flexible and creative with experience teaching in both face-to-face and online learning environments. Experience in professional groups related to language ability is a plus, as is experience with language-related curriculum development.
