POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

This OPS Instructor 9-month, non-tenure track position would teach four classes per semester, predominantly in Ceramic Instruction. These classes include Intro to Ceramics, Wheel-Throw, Sculptural Ceramics, and Advanced Ceramics. Familiarity with mold-making, slip-casting, digital ceramics, and various alternative ceramics processes a plus. Additionally, the Instructor will be expected to periodically teach Foundation classes such as 2D Design, 3D Design, and/or Drawing I.

Overseeing and upkeep of the Ceramic Studio. This includes inventory, upkeep and repair of equipment including kilns and wheels, and maintaining safety standards.


Advising the UWF Ceramics Club

Acting as Ceramics liaison between UWF and the community (including First City Arts Center and Pensacola State College).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Holds at least the master's degree in the field of Fine Arts or the equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and is otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. The appointee may engage in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, and/or service and other related activities, but is not eligible for tenure.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MFA in fine Arts with a Specialization in Ceramics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience managing a ceramics studio, including operation and maintenance of kilns and related equipment; demonstrated teaching experience in ceramics or a closely related field.
