POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for performing audit and investigative work, conducting audit follow-up, and providing management advisory services. Responsible to the Chief Audit Executive. Provides management with analyses, appraisals, and recommendations, and direct the activities of others assigned to audits. Through audits, consulting projects and investigations determine the adequacy of internal controls; the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of financial, administrative, and academic management; the degree of compliance with Florida Board of Education (FBOE), Florida Board of Governors (BOG) and institutional policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal, Florida, and local laws and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of relevant experience.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of accounting principles and theory. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report writing. Ability to organize documentation and other records in a methodical manner. Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in auditing. Experience in higher education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
  • 65% - Perform audit, investigative, and management advisory services to implement and advance the annual work plan; conduct audit finding follow up; interpret rules and policies of the Internal Auditing department, UWF, and the Board of Governors, and laws of the State of Florida. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Review audit, investigative, and management advisory services workpapers prepared by other IAMC staff. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Perform PCard audits of other departments on a routine, ongoing basis. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Participate in continuing education, training, and professional advocacy, including serving on University committees. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Perform other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
  • 5% - General administrative support for the department, including PCard expenditures and reconciliations. - (Essential)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Physical Requirements: Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely results would be cuts, bruises, etc.
