POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides circulation desk services, including supervising student assistants, assisting patrons, and handling routine desk operations (e.g., packages, phone messages, book drops, shelving, and stacks maintenance). Supports the Library Textbook Reserves program, including selection, ordering, and organization of textbooks. Supports equipment lifecycle management for the library's circulating iPad collection—imaging, inventory, barcoding, cleaning, and organization. Responsible for closing the library on Fridays and Saturdays and serving as backup Saturday opener.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma and one year of appropriate library-related experience. Appropriate college coursework or library vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated customer service skills, strong attention to detail, and effective problem-solving abilities are required. One year of library experience, including work in a public or academic library or library information commons environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Some college coursework is preferred. Experience with a library management system (e.g., Alma), Excel, and familiarity with circulation, reserves, or equipment lending operations in a public or academic library setting. Experience managing or maintaining technology inventory (e.g., laptops, iPads, or other circulating equipment) in a library setting is also preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
  • 50% - Delivers circulation desk services; supervises student staff; assists with course reserves and holds; supports daily operations and collection projects; serves as Friday and Saturday closer and backup Saturday opener. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Assists with the library textbook reserves program, including identifying, ordering, and organizing materials using Alma. Assists the Collection Specialist with stack maintenance, including shelving, inventory, shifting, shelf reading, book repair, and other collection projects. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Supports iPad maintenance and inventory; assists with data collection for reports; conducts equipment maintenance on nights and weekends. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
