        POSITION OVERVIEW

        JOB SUMMARY:

        The Coordinator assists students in utilizing VA Educational Benefits; supports the Director and lead Certifying Official; serves as a liaison between the student, the VA, and various UWF departments; provides essential services in certifying veteran educational benefits; and is responsible for training and supervising VA work study student workers.

        MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

        Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

        POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

        Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and a minimum of two years' experience working as a School Certifying Official (SCO). Pass and maintain School Certifying Official (SCO) certification.

        PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

        Four or more years of service in the United States Armed Forces or a dependent of a veteran.
        Experience working with veterans and dependents, preferably in a University Veterans Services office.

        ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
        • 60% - Serves as a School Certifying Official (SCO) for VA education benefits in compliance with VA requirements. Inputs certification data into the University database and Enrollment Manager. Maintains appropriate certification records and supporting documents in accordance with VA regulations, VA State Approving Agency Standards (SAA), and University policies. Performs audit checks and implements controls to ensure the accuracy of certifications and correspondence to the VA and the maintenance of supporting records. Updates the catalog in the VA system. Responsible for training and supervising VA work-study student workers. Process all nursing program requirements. - (Essential)
        • 30% - Counsels and advises students on the use of their educational benefits and how they are effected by enrollments and/or changes to enrollments. Counsels and advises students on UWF requirements, processes, and policies. Serves as a liaison between the student using VA benefits and the VA to bring about resolutions regarding matters related to the use and payment of educational benefits. Maintains a working relationship with other departments on campus. - (Essential)
