JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Coordinator will support the programming of a three-year U.S. Department of Education grant. This role is essential to enhancing professional development for underserved K-12 educators in Northwest Florida, delivering programming for UWF students and the public, and positioning the Academy for sustainability as a degree-granting entity (e.g., offering a minor and BA in American Studies and/or Statesmanship and Republicanism). The position is funded through a 3-year American History and Civics-National Activities Grant (ALN 84.422B) and emphasizes principles of American civic republicanism, the American Founding, constitutional studies, and economic liberty.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate logistics, including participant recruitment from Title I schools, event scheduling, and resource packet development.
• Grant Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to grant requirements, including budget tracking, data collection for evaluations (e.g., pre/post-assessments, surveys), and dissemination of open-licensed resources (e.g., lesson plans, debate guides, webinar recordings) via the Academy website and social media. Support the creation of a strategic plan for post-grant transition to a degree-granting entity.
• Administrative Support: Manage advisory board activities for participants. Assist with community research programs, including grants for teacher-led and student projects on topics like Pensacola’s colonial history and civic republicanism. Promote civic education to the general public and align activities with Florida’s civics standards and the Semiquincentennial.
• Collaborate with UWF’s Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology; Office of Institutional Research; and other units to support virtual streaming, marketing, and mixed-methods evaluations. Contribute to sustainability efforts, such as drafting degree program proposals.
• Recommends and/or makes decisions that may affect activities, programs, groups, and/or departmental operations.
• Provides input into the budget planning process and/or responsible for controlling and recommending budget expenditures.
