POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

The clinical placement coordinator will maintain and cultivate new clinical/internship partnerships for graduate programs for the School of Nursing. This role is responsible for managing and supporting the needs of the graduate nursing students and faculty in matters related to clinical internships They will be responsive to the needs of instructors and clinical placement sites while being cognizant of individual student learning outcomes. The coordinator must be organized, attentive to details and have effective time management skills. The coordinator will exercise a high degree of independent judgement, adhere to ethical and legal boundaries, develop and work independently and collaboratively, organize and retrieve information. Perform duties under pressure and meet frequent urgent deadlines. This person must be highly motivated, self-confident, able to quickly establish rapport and cultivate lasting clinical placement relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization from an accredited institution, or four years experience related to the job description.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Public relations skills with a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and project management expertise. Ability to build rapport and establish partnerships with clinical sites. High level of skills in professional oral and written communication, computer skills, including database management, organization and an eye for details. A valid drivers license is required due to clinical site visits.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
  • 35% - Student Support. Coordinate/secure practicum site needs of the graduate nursing students across the country. Assist students with Typhon related questions. Address questions related to practicum/internship placements. Provides guidance to students regarding practicum experience. Assist students with finding appropriate practicum locations. Assist graduates, as needed with graduate program documentation needed for employment. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Faculty Support Assist graduate faculty with planning the FNP intensive workshops. Work with and support MSN Program Directors and clinical faculty ensuring that practicum/internship sites meet accreditation and program standards. Assist MSN Program Directors with practicum and internship orientations. Assist MSN Program Directors with orientation of adjunct faculty to student clinical placement onboarding process. - (Essential)
  • 10% - In House Duties/Misc. Attend Nursing Faculty Organization and graduate program faculty meetings as requested. Collaborate with the affiliation agreement and onboarding coordinators, compliance manager to initiate and maintain contracts between clinical sites and the University of West Florida. Maintain and update the graduate preceptor handbooks under the direction of the School of Nursing Director. Manage the School of Nursing MSN clinical placement email and communications. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Practicum Sites Develop a professional rapport and trust with representatives of clinical agencies, and develop new clinical partnerships. Coordinate practicums, serve as liaison between sites, students, nursing faculty, preceptors, and Boards of Nursing or State Oversight Agencies. Occasional visits to clinical agencies may be required. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Records Management & Reporting Maintain and monitor student practicum records and update online training for clinical site supervisors in Typhon. Collects and maintains graduate program data for annual reports, grants, and accreditation; this includes formal evaluation of training sites as necessary and, communication with sites. Review and maintain overview list of state board requirements for clinical placements for graduate students. Ensure faculty maintain licensure in the states where practicums are held. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Community Engagement & Other Attend community events representing the School of Nursing as it relates to building relationships with local healthcare facilities. Maintain a positive presence in the healthcare arena in Northwest Florida. Facilitate annual recognition of clinical preceptors of the MSN program. Completed student degree validation documentation forms necessary for board exams. - (Essential)
