Part-time adjunct instructors in the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) program within the Department of Health Sciences and Administration deliver high-quality instruction across didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical courses. Key responsibilities include providing evidence-based teaching, evaluating student performance, fostering a supportive learning environment, and ensuring alignment with course outcomes and accreditation standards. Adjunct instructors work collaboratively with full-time faculty and participate in required training and course meetings to promote student success and maintain overall program quality.
The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
Candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered:
- Earned a Master’s degree in Respiratory Care or closely related discipline from a CoARC-accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Valid NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- Active Respiratory Care License in the state of Florida in good standing.
- Relevant respiratory therapy experience, including clinical, academic, and/or managerial roles.
Preferred candidates will hold a doctorate degree in an appropriate field of specialization or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution, beyond the required respiratory care degree.
Prior teaching experience in respiratory therapy or related health sciences in online or hybrid teaching formats.
1 year or more experience in areas such as mechanical ventilation, critical care, neonatal/pediatric care, or cardiopulmonary diagnostics; and familiarity with CoARC standards and competency-based education.
Advanced credentials Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS), Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS), or Sleep Disorders Specialty CRT-SDS/RRT-SDS) and active involvement in professional organizations such as the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) , Florida Society Respiratory Care (FSRC), or related specialty societies.
