The College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CASSH) promotes high-impact teaching, facilitates interdisciplinary initiatives, and fosters innovative research. Our faculty engage students in small class settings where critical thinking, oral and written communication, project management, and professional development are emphasized.
As “teacher-scholars,” our faculty remain productive with research and creative works. Some of our faculty have been ranked as among the most productive in the world for their fields. Our art and performance faculty remain busy–and are recognized nationally and internationally–with dozens of events and works every year. With a steady output of articles, books, and media appearances, our humanities and social science scholars are prolific.
As a cultural hub for the region, CASSH provides opportunities for faculty and students to engage with the community through partnerships with the Pensacola Historic Trust, the Pensacola Opera, the Pensacola Museum of Art, and the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition. The college has benefited from large endowments (including the largest in the school’s history for the Grier Williams School of Music) that fund initiatives such as the Seligman First Amendment Lecture Series, the Askew Lecture Series, and the Rolf’s Music Hall Artist Series. Opportunities for partnerships across the college and University include the multi-disciplinary initiative on Public Archeology and Community Heritage, one of the University’s areas of pre-eminence, and faculty affiliation with the Wright Family Institute for Global and Population Health.
We invite you to bring your expertise, passion, and creativity to CASSH—where you can make an impact in the classroom, on campus, and across the Gulf Coast region.
